Down to the water
Five beaches within a walk, all pebble or rock, all with the clear water this coast is known for. The nearest is ten minutes downhill. Here’s the honest part — two of our reviews mention it, and we’d rather say it ourselves: the walk back up is steep. Ten minutes down, a workout up — the balcony and the view are the reward.
- Peharovo · 600 m
- the nearest — down the lane, pebbles and rock
- Cipera · 800 m
- town beach by the old town
- Kvarner · 1 km
- the classic, below the Lungomare
- Ika · 2.1 km
- small harbour village, quieter water
- Medveja · 2.4 km
- white pebbles, the riviera's favourite
Medveja deserves its reputation — a long crescent of white pebbles ground down by the mountain streams, named, the story goes, after the sorceress Medea. There’s a beach bar, a water park for children, and in July and August the whole riviera is on it; go early or go in June and September.
